Overview

The Coda Youth Leadership Program helps students transition from participants to leaders. Those who age out of Coda’s after-school programs are invited to serve as volunteer interns, assisting in after-school programs and summer camps while gaining hands-on, real-world experience.

Through workshops and daily responsibilities, interns develop practical skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and accountability. The program will offer opportunities to mentor younger students, lead groups of children, and contribute to program operations. These experiences not only build confidence and maturity, but also provide meaningful résumé experience and strong references that support future academic, career, and vocational goals.

Many interns take on higher-level responsibilities over time, leading activities and guiding peers. Schedules vary depending on which internship responsibilities students take on. This progression creates a powerful cycle of mentorship, leadership, and community impact, empowering youth to grow as leaders, make meaningful contributions, and carry confidence and skills into their futures.

Get Started

The Coda Youth Leadership Program is open to eligible teens ages 14 and up who are ready to step into leadership and service roles. Volunteer interns serve during after-school programs and summer camps at Oak Hill Middle School, Fayetteville PK–8, and Coda’s summer camp locations, with schedules varying based on assigned responsibilities. Because internship positions depend on program needs, openings may not always be immediately available, but applications are accepted year-round. When a volunteer position becomes available, Coda staff will reach out to applicants directly. To apply, complete the Volunteer / Employment application through the Get Involved page.
